Vision Revisited

December 15, 2008

Dazasya was born on 28 July 2007 (1 Year and 13 days short of 5 months ago). I have been very clear with what I wanted to do and over the period of time I have been refining my thoughts to ensure clarity before I begin.

The key focus area is Society.

My strengths are understanding Technology and Entrepreneurship. How can Technology and Entrepreneurship work towards building a better society?

There are many Social Entrepreneurs in the country and they are working on various aspects to uplift the quality of life. Thanks to the Media, Television, Radio and top of the pyramid population, these high quality aspiring individuals are never in the limelight or their works are never known.

There are many angel investors and Venture Capitalists, but unfortunately, no one is interested in a social idea.

Our education system has always concentrated on studying very hard and becoming an engineer or doctor, unfortunately not Entrepreneurs.

Why am I bringing this topic for discussion? I believe in one principle very strongly – When you cannot fit into the system, stop complaining and go your path. This principle of mine comes from the famous quote – Don’t follow the path which everyone takes, instead, take a different one and leave a trial.

I alone nor a group of people cannot change how the world runs, but we can definitely take a different path and contribute what ever we can. Right?

Coming to the main aspect of Dazasya, let me explain what I would like to do:

  • One stop place for Social Entrepreneurship.
  • Ideas coming together for enhancing the quality of your, mine and each person’s life.
  • Emphasize on Social problems where technology can contribute to solving issues/concerns.
  • Entrepreneurship education.
  • Bring together Funding organizations for Social Projects.
  • Mentorship to solve any social concern which needs more than a pair of hands.
  • Consolidating Social Enterprise information across India.
  • Bringing information on Social Entrepreneurship to easy access.
  • Network of HealthCare, Education and Non-Profit organizations.

The list goes endless. To begin with, I would like to start work here.

First Project

My first project is to create the website and an interactive map on HealthCare infrastructure in India. I collected information with respect to Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Care Center’s across the country and I would plot the same on the map.

Target time to complete this Project is end of February 2009.

Helping Hands

I am looking for interested parties to step forward to help me in any way they can. As an example, if you have some bandwidth left and would like to consolidate a list of all Private HealthCare Organizations in India or build a list of all Social Entrepreneurs in a particular region, you are welcome. The above two are just a sample, however, I will compile a list of activities which need volunteering and if you can spare few hours of your time, you are most welcome.

Do write to me at hpudipeddi {at} gmail {dot} com if you need any further information.

Next Steps

December 8, 2008

I have been interacting with many people in the recent times and have been sharing my vision with Dazasya and what I would want to achieve. Having clarity in this is the essence of a long-term commitment to achieve the dream.

In the next few days, I will complete updating the site with the HealthCare infrastructure map and also the Wiki site for people to share their ideas and opinions.

More information to follow after the map is created and the the website has basic design and structure in place.

Updates

July 26, 2008

I have been researching and working on building Dazasya. Over the last few months, have had insight into where I would want to start and how to build the web iste. However, am looking for a good web site and logo designs. I will continue to see if anyone can help, but if you can help, please do not hesitate to write to me.

Next steps

  • I am working towards creating the HealthCare infrastrcutre map of India. On this map, we will identify the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary care center’s across the country.
  • After the Centers are identified, we will build information pertaining to the HealthCare centers (Population which is being served, center infrastructure etc)

I would want to finish this and go forward to creating the ecosystem to enhance the quality of HealthCare delivery in the Country.

New Year Wishes

January 2, 2008

Opportunity is missed by most people.

Because it is dressed in overalls and looks like hard work.

Do you know what opportunity looks like?

Real opportunity most often looks like a lot of long, hard work.

Do you know where to look for opportunity?

You are most likely to find it in the problems, the frustrations and the challenges about which the most people complain in the most, loudly.

Do you know what to do with opportunity when you find it?

The best thing you can do is to take full responsibility for transforming it into something of real and lasting value.

How do you do that?

With an unshakable commitment, a positive attitude, the willingness to make whatever effort is necessary, and the persistence to continue until is done.

Do you understand what opportunity is not?

It is not a free ride, or a lucky break, or an innovation to get something for nothing.

Do you want to make the most of a great opportunity?

Then get busy and put everything you have, into making it happen, for if you do, it will.

Wishing you the best of the New Year and wishing that you don’t miss any opportunities coming your way

Thoughts behind Dazasya

August 22, 2007

I am really honored by the amount of encouragement which I am getting everyday for this initiative of mine. Things are going at a slow pace and am first trying to bring out the Vision and Mission statements with clarity for Dazasya.

When I started this initiative, I had two thoughts in mind:

1.      To create a platform for people to come together and work for a Cause.

2.      Should be a one-stop-shop for all Entrepreneurs to bring their ideas, brainstorm and work together with due contributions to society (in various ways).

Now, what do I mean by the above two statements and how can Dazasya add value when compared to many other existing organizations supporting similar cause?

A brief History

India is steadily becoming the fastest growing economy in the world. Today, everyone realizes the potential of our nation.  However, there is a lot more then just privatization and globalization to be a Super-Power nation. We will need to be more self-dependent and innovative to sustain this growth and ensure we be there not just in terms of taking back-office work but also being innovative and creative.

In my opinion, there are three key areas which we and our next generations need to work on constantly, not only to ensure India creates Knowledge Wealth, but also creates an eco-system which helps uplift the quality of living.

1.      HealthCare

2.      Education

3.      Innovation in constant loop

HealthCare – Access to Quality and affordable HealthCare is the most important. There are many challenges to this and I hope to provide my share of contributions through Dazasya.

Education – Will need to create a resource pool of various backgrounds to teach / share their knowledge in locations outside urban areas.

Innovation in constant loop – Provide support to ideas which can contribute towards uplifting the quality of life.

Creating a Platform

United we stand, Independent we fall..

Quite a famous quote. All of us have some special interest in us which we would like to explore and work on. At times we meet like minded people and pursue our interests together and many other times, we just tend to ignore our thoughts.

Dazasya works to create a platform for individuals to come together with ideas, work collaboratively towards a common goal – This is the platform we create.

One-Stop-Shop

To the Entrepreneur, For the Entrepreneur, By the Entrepreneur.

India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world today. We are becoming an house hold name for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and not to forget, we have already established ourselves for our service minds/culture.

80% of our population lives in rural/semi-urban areas of the country which lack exposure to various “knowledge resources” which unfortunately are limited to be accessible to urban population. There are many innovative thoughts and ideas which exist in this 80% of population which are lacking the exposure. If the existing 20% are contributing to this rapid growth of economy, just imagine if the remaining 80% also starts thinking of the same? Leave alone being a developed nation, we will be a Model Country in the next few years.

Dazasya aims to bridge the gap between the fortunate who have access to “knowledge resources” and the remaining who need access.

How do we do this?

We need well-wishers and passionate people, to bring to light new projects which we can help with, as a community and help the team/person who owns the idea to run it.

Example: Suppose you meet a person who has an idea and passionate to work or is currently working and is looking for mentor ship / access to resources, Dazasya as a team will attempt to provide the same.

How is this different from existing programs?

There are many great organizations and forums which are currently accessible to the 20% population. We will need to take similar kinds of forums to people who do not have access to these kinds of resources to explore their thoughts.

Will such forums work?

No. Just by making these forums accessible does not work.

Then, what should be done?

I have few thoughts with this and it would be great if you can share your thoughts to make this initiative bigger and better:

  • Create a knowledge base on HealthCare, Education and Entrepreneurship.
  • Spread the word and associate with various NGO organizations to
    • Organize learning sessions outside urban areas.
    • HealthCare Services.
    • Identify potential small scale innovations.
  • Create part-time volunteering opportunities for professionals to pursue their interests.

Vision Statement

August 15, 2007

I have come up with a simple vision statement for Dazasya….here it goes.

To create a platform to foster Service, Innovation and Entrepreneurship contributing to Quality of Life.

PS: I am still working on my logo design, your inputs are welcome.
